Major shock for liquor lovers, Bars will remain closed for four days in Delhi; liquor will not be served

Ahead of Delhi Assembly Election 2025, The Delhi government takes a big decision. The government has mandated the closure of liquor stores and other venues that serve alcohol in the city from February 3 to 5, coinciding with polling days, and continuing until the results are announced on February 8.

 

A notification was issued

According to a recent gazette notification from the Delhi Excise Commissioner, the polling and counting days for the 70-member Delhi Assembly have been designated as “dry days” in accordance with the Excise Rules-2010 for various excise licenses.

 

The dry day will be in effect from 6 pm on February 3 until 6 pm on February 5, covering the 48 hours leading up to the end of the polling period, with February 8 set as the counting day. During this time, the sale of alcohol will be prohibited in shops, hotels, restaurants, and clubs.

The announcement indicated that on dry days, all liquor shops, hotels, restaurants, clubs, and any establishments that sell or serve alcohol will not be permitted to do so. This includes non-owned clubs, star-rated hotels, and individually operated restaurants, regardless of the various licenses they may hold for storing and supplying liquor.

 

150 Borders of Delhi Sealed

In preparation for the Delhi Assembly elections and Republic Day, all 150 borders of the National Capital have been secured. The Delhi Police has set up blockades at 162 locations along these borders. In the event of a blockade, both paramilitary forces and local police are stationed around the clock. The Delhi Police has stated that every vehicle entering the city is subject to inspection, and they are also keeping an eye on any suspicious individuals and items.
