The nation has a storage capacity for 60 days

The central government has confirmed that it possesses 60 days’ worth of petrol and diesel storage. They have assured that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG in the country, so there is no reason to panic. Additionally, the government has instructed oil marketing companies to ramp up LPG production.

Recently, the state quota was raised from 20 percent to 50 percent. The central government is actively monitoring the supply of petrol, diesel, and gas.

Price increases this month

Earlier this month, LPG cylinder prices saw an increase. At that time, the cost of a 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder rose by Rs 60, while the price of a commercial gas cylinder went up by Rs 144. Since then, there have been no further price hikes. In recent days, there has been a decline in panic booking of LPG cylinders, leading to fewer crowds at gas agencies.

New rules apply from cylinder booking to PNG users

In response to the growing demand for gas in the country and the pressure on supply, the government has made several important decisions regarding LPG. These steps, taken in the first half of March, clearly indicate that regulations are being tightened to maintain a balanced domestic gas supply. In this context, a 21-day lock-in period has been implemented on domestic LPG cylinder bookings since March 6. This means that consumers must wait at least 21 days after purchasing a cylinder before booking a second one.
