A Life Certificate is mandatory for all retired employees of the central government, state, and other government institutions. It is a biometric-based digital certificate that confirms to the pension disbursing agency that the pensioner is still alive.

This certificate is valid for a full year. This means that if you don’t submit this certificate by November 30th, your pension will be stopped with immediate effect from December. However, there’s no need to panic! Upon submitting the certificate later, your withheld pension will be credited to your account along with the full outstanding amount. Remember, the deadline for pensioners over 80 years of age is November 30th, while those between 60 and 80 years of age must submit it between November 1st and 30th.

Submit Online from Home

To submit a Digital Life Certificate, you can use the Jeevan Pramaan app, which can also be downloaded from the respective bank or post office. You can also complete this process by visiting the nearest Jeevan Pramaan Kendra, bank, or Common Service Center (CSC). You’ll need to have your Aadhaar number, bank details, PPO number (Pension Payment Order), and mobile number ready.

Complete Registration Process on the App

First, download the official Jeevan Pramaan app and click on the “Registration” link.

Now, enter the required information, such as your Aadhaar number, name, bank account number, PPO, and mobile number.

Click ‘Send OTP’ and enter the one-time password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number.

Next, you’ll need to verify your Aadhaar-linked biometric identity (such as a fingerprint or iris scan).

Upon successful submission, the Aadhaar authority will verify your information, and you’ll receive a unique Jeevan Pramaan ID.

How to Generate the Certificate Online

Once the ID is generated, you’ll need to log in to the app again using the OTP. Select the ‘Generate Jeevan Pramaan’ option and enter your Aadhaar and mobile number. Click ‘Generate OTP’ and enter the received OTP. You will then need to enter your PPO number, the name of the pension disbursing agency, and other necessary details. The app will then ask for permission to scan your face; click ‘Yes’. You will see all the instructions on the screen. Read them carefully and press the ‘Proceed’ button. Your face will be scanned, after which, after filling in the required information, the face will be scanned again, and you will receive a Jeevan Pramaan ID number. Finally, the option to download the certificate will be activated, and you will receive a confirmation SMS on your mobile.

Submit the certificate by calling a postman at home

If you are not comfortable with the digital process, this unique service from India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) is for you. Pensioners can request a postman to visit their home through the India Post Payments Bank website or the PostInfo App. The postman will come to your home with the biometric device and complete the process at your convenience. This facility is extremely convenient and safe for senior citizens.

Take special care when submitting your Life Certificate

The Life Certificate is a sensitive process, so you should avoid carelessness.

Never share your Aadhaar number, OTP, fingerprint, or iris scan with any unknown person or third-party agency.

Always get your verification done at trusted centers (such as a bank, post office, or CSC).

Fake apps may also be available on the Play Store or App Store, so download only the official app.
