In a significant announcement made in Parliament, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that the primary focus of Indian Railways is on supporting poor and middle-class families. Production of 12,000 General Coaches and Introduction of Extra Trains
The Railway Minister informed Parliament that Indian Railways plans to produce approximately 12,000 general coaches during this financial year. This initiative is particularly aimed at those who travel in general coaches, where securing tickets can often be difficult. Additionally, 900 extra general coaches have been introduced this year to improve passenger comfort. This enhancement is especially crucial during peak travel times, such as the festive seasons of Diwali and Chhath, when passenger numbers significantly increase.
Enhancing Railway Safety and Advancements in Train Technology
Ashwini Vaishnaw also highlighted that the Railways have implemented several key safety measures. Approximately 1.23 lakh kilometers of outdated tracks have been upgraded with new technology. He also mentioned the introduction of new trains like “Amrit Bharat,” which utilize the technology of the Vande Bharat train. These advancements aim to enhance both safety and comfort for travelers. Furthermore, Indian Railways is creating job opportunities for the youth, with ongoing recruitment for 58,642 positions.
