Holi Special Trains: As Holi, the vibrant festival of colors, draws near, trains from Delhi-NCR to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand are seeing a surge in passengers. Regular train seats are already booked, and waiting lists are becoming longer. To ease the situation for travelers, Northern Railway has made a significant announcement. This Holi, over 300 special trains will be put into service to facilitate smooth travel.

Passenger demand is expected to rise starting February 28

This year, Holi will be celebrated on March 4th. It is anticipated that many individuals will start heading back to their home states as early as February 28th. In preparation for this influx, Northern Railway has arranged to operate around 300 Holi special trains from various stations. Many of these trains will depart from Anand Vihar, New Delhi, and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations.

There will be an increase in trains compared to last year

Sources indicate that last year, approximately 250 special trains were run for Holi. This year, due to the higher number of travelers, the train count has been raised by about 20 percent. So far, around 100 trains have been confirmed, with the remaining services to be announced next week. The Railways has also stated that if there is a high volume of passengers on a specific route, unreserved special trains will be quickly arranged to manage the crowds.

In light of the incident at New Delhi Railway Station in February last year, extra precautions are being implemented this time. Medical personnel and ambulances will be stationed at all three major stations in Delhi. In case of emergencies, passengers will have access to first aid right at the station. Furthermore, 30 beds will be set aside at the Railway Hospital during this period to ensure that immediate medical assistance is available to passengers if required.

Big relief to passengers

This railway preparation is expected to provide significant relief to those traveling home for the festive season. The operation of additional trains will reduce waiting lists and provide relief to passengers from overcrowding. Meanwhile East Central Railway has announced the operation of special trains. A total of 26 pairs of trains will be operated as Holi Utsav Specials for the convenience of passengers.

According to the railway administration, the number of passengers traveling home and returning during Holi significantly increases. Keeping this in mind, the decision has been made to run special trains on various routes to ensure passengers have access to confirmed tickets and a comfortable journey.

Holi special trains will run on these major routes

As per the announced list, special trains will be operated on busy routes like Narkatiaganj-Gorakhpur, Gorakhpur-Narkatiyaganj, Katihar-Amritsar, Amritsar-Katihar, Chhindwara-Jhajhapur, Jhajhapur-Chhindwara, Chalpalli-Raxaul, Raxaul-Chalpalli, Malda Town-Anand Vihar Terminal, Anand Vihar Terminal-Malda Town, Sealdah-Gorakhpur, Gorakhpur-Sealdah, Asansol-Gorakhpur, Gorakhpur-Asansol, Puri-Patna, Patna-Puri, Tata-Katihar, Katihar-Tata, Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad and Dhanbad-Bhubaneswar.
