Ration Card Update: Major news for Ration Card holders. It’s important that you’ve completed the e-KYC for your ration card! This is a positive step, especially since the deadline for e-KYC of Aadhaar cards was March 31st. If you missed this deadline, you won’t be able to complete the e-KYC process anymore. This could impact your ration access and potentially exclude you from various government schemes in Delhi. However, simply completing the e-KYC for your ration card isn’t enough.

Are you one of those individuals who might be misleading the government, whether intentionally or out of oversight? It’s crucial to ensure that all the information on your ration card is accurate, as any discrepancies could lead to issues. Delhi’s Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, has emphasized that ration cards will be verified before any government schemes are rolled out. Since ration cards in Delhi haven’t been updated in the past decade, there may be many cases where individuals’ incomes have changed or where deceased members are still listed. If your ration card contains such inaccuracies, it’s essential to address them promptly.

If your ration card includes the name of a deceased family member, you should remove it right away. This can be done easily online from the comfort of your home. Start by logging into the e-district portal, which is used for applying to various services and schemes offered by the Delhi government. You’ll need to register first, but once that’s done, you can apply for multiple services online.

To remove a name, log into the portal and select “Apply for Services” from the “Apply Online” tab. Then, navigate to the Food & Supply Department to proceed.

Here, you’ll find a variety of service options available to you. To proceed with Member Deletion on the AAY/Priority Household Card, simply click on the “Apply” button. Your information will then be displayed on the screen, where you can enter your ration card number. After that, you can remove the name of the member you wish to delete.

If you are receiving a pension in the name of a deceased individual, you will need to return the funds. This step is crucial because if pension payments continue to be deposited into the account of a deceased member, the government may seek to recover those funds. This process has already begun in Uttar Pradesh. For instance, if an elderly family member passed away six months ago and you haven’t removed their name from the old age pension, you will be required to repay the pension money received during that period. To avoid any complications, it’s advisable to remove the names of deceased family members from your ration card.

You also have the option to surrender your ration card. Since the last issuance of ration cards in Delhi, many people’s financial situations may have changed. The government plans to conduct an investigation into this matter. If your income exceeds the below-poverty-line threshold and you no longer require a ration card, you can voluntarily surrender it. Otherwise, the government may take strict measures following their investigation. Surrendering your ration card is a straightforward process; just visit the e-district portal and look for the option under the Food & Supply Department.

If you still qualify for a ration card and its associated benefits, it’s important to take some action. For instance, if there have been any new family members added in the past decade, make sure to include their names on the ration card. If a family member’s name is missing, they might miss out on the Ayushman Yojana benefits. Additionally, if the woman is not listed as the head of the family on the ration card, it’s essential to update that information. This step is crucial for receiving the Rs 2500 under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana.
