If your PAN card is lost or stolen, immediately file an FIR (First Information Report) at the nearest police station. This step is important because a lost PAN card could be misused for identity theft or fraud. If you don’t remember your PAN number, use the Know Your PAN feature on the Income Tax Department website. Enter your name, date of birth, and father’s name to retrieve your PAN number.
Procedure for making a duplicate PAN card-
- It costs you Rs 50 to get a duplicate PAN card made.
- To get a PAN card, you first have to visit the official website of NSDL onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/ReprintEPan.html
- Before visiting the portal, keep your PAN card number and Aadhaar card number with you.
- Then, go to the portal and enter all the required information, such as PAN number, Aadhaar card number, date of birth, captcha code, etc. Then, submit it.
- Then, confirm your address and PIN code. Once your address is confirmed, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP to make the payment.
- Finally, you will get a slip which you should keep safely as you can track your new PAN card with the help of this slip.
