Free Gas Cylinder : Big news for everyone. As soon as the news of free cylinders from the Delhi government surfaced, many questions arose in people’s minds. Do I need to apply for this? How will I get the cylinder? Will I receive the money first or later? How will the government determine who is eligible? The government has clarified that the entire process will be kept simple.

When will Delhi residents get free cylinders?

The free gas cylinder scheme was announced before the assembly elections. The promise was that after forming the government, free cylinders would be distributed on Holi and Diwali. Now, after the government’s first year in office, preparations are underway to launch the scheme. It received formal cabinet approval on January 20th.

Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries in Delhi will receive two free cylinders per year. One cylinder will be provided on Holi and the other on Diwali. This means the government will cover the cost of gas cylinders during the two major festivals of the year, providing direct financial relief to families.

Only needy families will benefit from the free cylinders. The scheme will benefit families in the EWS category and those with ration cards. It is estimated that this will benefit over 1.7 million families. The government’s focus is on those households where gas costs have the greatest impact.

There’s no need to fill out a separate form for this scheme. You’ll simply book and purchase the cylinder from a gas agency as usual. The government will then transfer the cylinder payment directly to your Aadhaar-linked bank account. This means you’ll receive the refund.

To avail the free cylinder, a Delhi Aadhaar card and a ration card with a Delhi address will be required. Those who do not fall under the EWS category and do not have a ration card will not be eligible for this scheme. Government employees or retired individuals are also excluded from this scheme.
