The capital was hit by heavy rainfall, strong storms, and hail in various regions. During this period, wind speeds soared to 100 kilometers per hour. Public life faced significant disruptions due to the adverse weather conditions. Air travel was particularly affected, with over 500 flights experiencing delays. Additionally, 15 flights were rerouted to different airports, and 6 planes attempted to take off again during their landing.

The Meteorological Department reported that the weather took a perilous turn after 8 pm on Wednesday. The conditions worsened rapidly, prompting the IMD to issue an orange alert for North, South-West, and South-East Delhi. A powerful storm swept through the Palam area, where wind speeds reached 98 kilometers per hour. In contrast, Safdarjung and Pusa recorded wind speeds of 72 kilometers per hour. Furthermore, hail fell in areas such as Dhaula Kuan, Moti Bagh, and Uttam Nagar in South and South-West Delhi.

The Meteorological Department noted that Palam recorded 2 mm of rain, while Safdarjung saw 1.8 mm on Wednesday. Meteorologists attribute this weather pattern to the intense heat experienced throughout the day combined with a western disturbance. The capital enjoyed light drizzle and strong winds during the day, offering some respite from the heat. However, due to high humidity, temperatures climbed to 44 degrees Celsius by evening, although the actual maximum temperature was logged below 40 degrees Celsius.
