New EPFO App – Now PF Withdrawals Through UPI Will be Easier, Know About Limits and Rules

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation is preparing to take digital services for its members to the next level. As part of the EPFO 3.0 upgrade, a new mobile app is planned, which could make the PF withdrawal process faster and easier. This new initiative aims to reduce the time required for PF withdrawals and fully implement a digital payment system. Reports suggest this feature could be implemented around 2026 and will benefit millions of employees.

PF Transfer via UPI Directly to Bank Account

Once the new system is implemented, members will be able to transfer funds from their PF directly to their bank accounts via UPI. Currently, PF withdrawals require online claims, and approval can take several days. The new system will allow for direct transfer of funds to the account after login, amount selection, and UPI authentication. This could make withdrawals almost instant or very quick.

How much can be withdrawn at a time?

According to media reports, a limit of approximately ₹25,000 per transaction may be imposed initially. Furthermore, withdrawal of the entire PF balance will not be permitted. Rules require a portion of the total amount to be kept safe to maintain a retirement fund. Several reports also indicate that at least 25 percent of the amount may be required.

Balance will appear in the app

The new app may display the PF balance in two parts.

Eligible Balance – This portion will be immediately withdrawable.

Locked Balance – The second portion will be reserved for future security.

This will allow members to easily understand how much they can withdraw.

Automatic claim settlement within 3 days

The new system strengthens the auto-settlement system. Now, claims up to lakhs of rupees can be settled digitally within 3 days without manual verification. This will enable immediate availability of funds for medical, educational, or emergency needs.

Integration with the UPI app and digital platforms

The plan is to integrate the new feature into the UPI ecosystem so that members can experience a banking app-like experience. Testing is also underway before launch to ensure the system is fully stable.

The Digital Future of the PF System in India

This is considered a major step towards digitizing PF services in India. EPFO 3.0 aims to make PF services faster, safer, and completely online, making PF management as easy as banking in the future.
