What is the new rule of EPFO

EPFO has made this new option available on its portal while taking a step towards digital empowerment. After this change, employees will no longer need the company’s permission to correct small details. EPFO ​​wrote on the post, “You can update the job joining and exit date in your EPF account without uploading any document or approval of the company (employer). EPFO ​​gives the power in your hands.”

How to update joining and exit date

1. First of all go to the website of EPFO.
2. Log in by entering UAN number and password.
3. OTP verification process will also have to be completed, so keep the registered mobile number active.
4. After logging in, go to the ‘Manage’ tab and select ‘Modify Basic Details’ option.
5. From here you can update your joining date, exit date and other important information yourself.

Why is this change necessary?

Having correct information in EPF records makes future pension, PF claim, transfer and other financial services easier. Wrong joining date can affect the service history, due to which the assessment of pension entitlement can also be wrong.
