EPFO: Every month, 12 percent of an employee’s salary is contributed to the Provident Fund (PF) account. This accumulated amount is accessible upon retirement, ensuring a financially secure retirement life.

If you wish to find out the balance in your PF account or the contributions made by your employer, you can easily check this from the comfort of your home. Accessing your PF account balance is straightforward and requires only a mobile phone and internet connection. To check your PF balance, please follow the steps outlined below carefully.

Follow the steps to check PF balance at home

First, visit the official EPFO website. You will find an option labeled “For Employees.” After selecting this option, click on “Member Passbook” from the available choices. A new page will then appear on your screen. You will need to enter details such as your UAN number, password, captcha code, and mobile number. An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar; please enter this OTP. Once the OTP is verified, your PF balance will be displayed on the screen.

According to available information, 12 percent of a salaried individual’s monthly salary is deducted for PF contributions. This amount is divided, with a portion allocated to the PF account and another portion to the pension account. Specifically, approximately 8.67 percent of the 12 percent goes into the pension account, which is disbursed as a pension after retirement. The remaining 3.33 percent is deposited into the PF account, which can be withdrawn in case of emergencies such as medical needs, higher education for children, or marriage expenses.
