EPFO New Rule: Government Unveils Simplified Process for Claiming and Tracking Your Provident Fund

The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has revised the rules for the Provident Fund (PPF). With the implementation of these new rules, the claim process, tracking of claims, and checking the passbook have become easier. EPF members will experience significant convenience after these changes. The central government has issued instructions to implement the Aadhaar Payment Bridge and 100% biometric Aadhaar authentication. As a result of this instruction, both employers and employees will benefit from the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, which was announced in the Union Budget 2024-25.

Activate UAN: Simple Steps for Both New and Existing Employees

Along with new employees, existing employees will also need to activate their Universal Account Number (UAN). To do this, they must activate the UAN through the Aadhaar-based OTP process. Once the UAN is activated, it will be easier for EPFO members to avail of all the online service facilities. After activating the UAN, employees will be able to easily use the following services:

Managing Your Provident Fund Account

With the new system in place, EPFO members can manage their Provident Fund (PF) accounts more easily, including the following services:

  • View and Download the PF Passbook
  • Submit Claims Online
  • Update Personal Details
  • Track Claims

Members can now access EPFO services 24/7, eliminating the need to visit the EPFO office for most services.

To activate your Universal Account Number (UAN), follow these simple steps:

1.  Visit the EPFO Portal

Go to the EPFO portal on your browser.

2. Select the ‘Activate UAN’ Option
