The Government of India has revised certain aspects of the Atal Pension Yojana (APY). The registration procedure has now been modified. The Department of Posts issued a notification stating that any old APY forms will not be accepted after October 1, 2025.
In the future, only the new revised form must be used to open a new account. This modification follows the regulatory framework of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority. The circular stated that the changes would enhance the pension services.
What Are the New Rules?
The Government has stated that a new form for the Atal Pension Yojana must now be used when applying for the program, with changes in various details on the new form. Now, a foreign citizen has to be a part of the question. The person applying will have to write in the application if they have citizenship in another country. This is to ensure that only Indian citizens get the APY benefits.
In addition, APY savings accounts will be opened through post offices from now on.
New APY Form at Post Offices
The Department of Posts has asked all post offices in the country to accept Atal Pension Yojana (APY) applications only with the new form. Customers should be informed about this change. Post offices must also put this information on their notice boards.
