Anganwadi Salary Hike, Workers to Receive Increased Monthly Pay

Anganwadi Salary Update: The government of Goa has made a groundbreaking announcement, revealing a substantial increase in the honorarium for Anganwadi workers and helpers in the state. As per an official directive from the Directorate of Women and Child Development, the new honorarium structure will take effect from April 1, 2026. This initiative is seen as a significant step towards economically empowering women at the grassroots level and acknowledging their vital contributions.

There will be a bumper increase in salary

With this new honorarium framework, the government has introduced a more practical and service-oriented system, replacing the previous one established in 2021. This change not only promotes economic growth but also signifies a positive advancement in providing incentives based on experience and tenure. The order, issued under the authority of the Governor, has received the endorsement of the Finance Department, ensuring both administrative integrity and transparency.

This decision aligns with the commitment made by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant during the Goa Budget Session. By promptly implementing its promises, the government has shown its serious dedication to the welfare of grassroots workers. How much will the salary increase?

Under the new framework, Anganwadi workers who previously earned a monthly honorarium of Rs 4,500, which included a central government share of Rs 2,700 and a state government share of Rs 1,800, will now see the state government contribute an additional Rs 10,500. This raises their initial total honorarium to Rs 15,000. Moreover, based on experience and service length, this amount could rise to Rs 23,000 per month. This increase will not only enhance their financial situation but also elevate their motivation and commitment to their roles.
Similarly, the honorarium of Anganwadi helpers has also been significantly increased. Previously, they received Rs 2,250 per month, but now the state government will contribute an additional Rs 6,250. This brings their starting honorarium to Rs 8,500, which can increase to Rs 11,500 with experience . This move also symbolizes the equal importance given to the role of helpers, who contribute significantly to the successful operation of Anganwadi services.
This order, issued by Mrs. Jyoti Desai, Director of Women and Child Development and ex-officio Joint Secretary, ensures that benefits reach the workers directly and they receive timely financial assistance. Overall, this decision is not only a financial reform but also a social message that the government recognizes the contributions of its grassroots workers and is committed to taking concrete steps to improve their living standards.
