All eyes in Union Budget 2025, There will be a lot in the budget for modern railways!

There’s a lot in store for railways in the budget set to be revealed on February 1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman might boost the railway budget, with a potential increase of at least 20%. The government is really focused on enhancing railway infrastructure and improving passenger amenities, so we could see some significant announcements in the budget.

 

New trains could be on the horizon

 

This financial year, the central government allocated Rs 2.62 lakh crore for railways, and that could rise to over 3 lakh crore. To enhance passenger services, there’s a strong push for more Vande Bharat trains. So, it’s likely that on February 1, the Finance Minister will unveil plans for Vande Bharat trains on several new routes.

 

Funding for upgrades is on the way

The government is also prioritizing the upgrade of railway stations. As a result, we might hear about which stations will be modernized under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in the Union Budget 2025.

 

The budget will focus on enhancing safety in railway travel. Experts suggest that around Rs 12,000 crore could be set aside to roll out the Kavach system across the entire rail network. There might also be some additional announcements regarding passenger amenities in the budget. Analysts think that the average speed of passenger trains could see an increase. The Modi government has been putting in a lot of effort into modernizing the railways lately, making it a top priority.
