8th Pay Commission – Employees have placed 3 major demands before the government regarding the 8th Pay Commission. These demands are so important that without them, revision of salary-pension of more than 1 crore central employees and pensioners is impossible. Regarding this, the employee union has requested the Finance Minister and the Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to pay attention to these demands and get them executed immediately.

Concern over delay in 8th Pay Commission

Bharat Pensioners Samaj (BPS), the oldest and prominent organization of pensioners of India, has expressed concern over the delay in the progress of the 8th Pay Commission (8th CPC). The organization has written a letter to the Finance Minister and the Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) demanding early finalization of the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the Commission and immediate appointment of the Chairman and members of the Commission.

ToR and commission chairman not decided

BPS General Secretary SC Maheshwari has said in this letter to the ministries that the announcement by the Central Government in January 2025 to approve the formation of the 8th Pay Commission was welcome. But since then the ToR has not been decided nor the chairman or members of the commission have been announced. This has created a situation of confusion and concern among crores of pensioners across the country.

The letter also mentioned that due to this delay, many rumours and misleading information are spreading on social media and other platforms, which is affecting the morale of the pensioners.

BPS has made 3 main demands in its letter:

1- The ToR of the Commission should be finalised soon.

2- The Chairman and members of the Commission should be announced immediately.

3- Representation of pensioners should be ensured.
