Bus Fare Hike: Government Increases Fares by 10% After Diesel Price Rise, Check athe Details

Bus Fare Hike: Big shock for bus cummuters. Following the rise in petrol and diesel prices, most people are using public transportation like buses and metro instead of their personal vehicles. Millions of people travel by bus daily, especially office and college students. Therefore, if you travel by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) regular buses, be aware that bus fares have been increased by 10 percent.

What is the reason for the fare increase?

The MSRTC explains that the rise in petrol and diesel prices, driven by ongoing tensions in the Middle East, has led to this fare hike. This decision was made in response to the escalating diesel costs and the growing expenses of operating buses. Additionally, the corporation notes that many of its bus services are currently running at a loss. As a result, this fare increase will affect the daily commuters who rely on these bus services.

How much will you need to pay now?

According to MSRTC, following the fare increase, the new fares will be structured as follows:

Adults will now pay Rs 14.

The fare per stage for ordinary and midi buses will be Rs 11.05.

Children’s fare will remain unchanged at Rs 7.

It’s important to note that this fare increase was initially set to last until July 15, but it has now been extended to July 31.

Big Impact on passengers

The fare hike will significantly affect the daily commuters who use the ordinary buses operated by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. A large number of people depend on these buses for their daily travel, and with the deadline for the fare increase being pushed from July 15 to July 31, it will have a direct impact on their finances.

Earlier, this fare hike was to expire on the night of July 15. However, now the General Manager has instructed to keep this 10 percent fare hike in effect from July 16 to July 31 (till midnight).

The original fare will be charged from the passengers as before from August 1. Instructions have been given to M/s Ebix Cash Technologies Limited, Mumbai to make necessary technical changes in the ETI machine system for tickets during this extended period.
