More than 1 crore employees and pensioners across the country will getheirts benefit. If it is implemented, then this amendment is likely to be implemented by 2026 or financial year 2027. However, nothing has been said officially about the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. There is a possibility of a burden of Rs 1.8 lakh crore on the government treasury.

When was the 7th Pay Commission implemented?

The central government has been implementing the new pay commission every ten years. Earlier, the government implemented the 7th Pay Commission on January 1, 2026, after which there was a bumper increase in salary. In this, the salary of defence personnel, pensioners and other central employees was increased. However, the basis for the salary increase is the fitment factor.

A multiplier is used to decide the new basic salary. According to Ambit Capital, the fitment factor for the 8th Pay Commission is likely to be between 1.83 to 2.46.

This means that the minimum salary of central employees can increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 32,940. If the current salary of an employee is Rs 50,000, then the fitment factor is likely to reach Rs 91,500 at the lower end and Rs 1.23 lakh at the upper end.

How much can DA increase?

The DA of central employees can increase by up to 4 per cent. It is believed that the government may announcea  DA hike before Diwali. However, how much DA will increase has not been officially announced.

Such things are being said in media reports. Earlier in March, the DA was increased, the rates of which were implemented from January 1, 2025. Now the rates of DA, which will be increase,d will be implemented from July 1, 2025.
