Bonus Hike– Cabinet Approves 78 Days’ Bonus for Railway Employees, Know How Will They Now Get

Bonus Hike: A very good news for railway employees. The Modi government has announced a generous bonus package for over 11.40 lakh railway employees, equivalent to 78 days’ salary. During a Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, the Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) received official approval. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared this exciting news. Under this initiative, eligible railway employees will receive the Productivity Linked Bonus, which rewards both individual work quality and overall Railway performance. Non-gazetted railway staff stand to gain from this decision.

A total of 11,40,770 employees will benefit

Following cabinet approval, the way forward is set for 11,40,770 railway employees to receive this bonus. The bonus calculation is based on 78 days’ salary, though the exact amount each employee receives will depend on specific eligibility rules and bonus formulas.

What does Productivity Linked Bonus mean?

The Productivity Linked Bonus is a yearly reward given to railway workers. It’s designed to motivate staff and acknowledge their hard work and dedication. Eligible non-gazetted railway employees are eligible for this bonus. Now that the government has given the green light, the bonus payments can start rolling out to deserving employees.

How much bonus did railway employees get earlier?

It should be noted that previously, the productivity-linked bonus for non-gazetted railway employees was calculated based on a salary limit of Rs 7,000 and 78 days’ salary. Accordingly, employees receive a maximum annual bonus of Rs 17,951. However, the Indian Railway Technical Supervisors Association (IRTSA) had demanded an increase in the salary limit for calculating the bonus. The organization stated that for employees in Level 2 and above, the salary limit should be increased to Rs 18,000, including dearness allowance (DA). Furthermore, it suggested calculating the bonus based on different salary levels of employees.
