EPFO Senior Pensioners – How to Get Your Life Certificate From Home From November 1

Pension Update November 2026: With only today remaining in the month of October, November is set to begin tomorrow. It is worth noting that the start of each month often brings changes to various government rules and services. Now, in November 2026, elderly pensioners are set to receive significant relief. The Central Government is launching a special nationwide campaign, effective November 1, 2026, to facilitate the creation of ‘Digital Life Certificates’.

Through this government initiative, elderly pensioners will be able to generate their life certificates from the comfort of their homes using ‘face authentication’ on their smartphones. This eliminates the need for pensioners to make repeated visits to banks or government offices every year to obtain their life certificates.

Launch of the Digital Life Certificate Campaign
This Central Government campaign will run from November 1 to November 30, 2026, and will cover approximately 2,000 cities and districts nationwide. The primary objective is to enable elderly pensioners to submit their Life Certificates from home. Several organisations, including banks, India Post Payments Bank, EPFO, UIDAI, and the Railways, are participating in this initiative.

What is a Digital Life Certificate?
A digital life certificate is essential for pensioners. It must be submitted annually by those receiving a pension to verify that the pensioner is still alive, ensuring that pension payments continue without interruption. Previously, elderly individuals had to visit a bank or a government office to submit their Life Certificate; however, the government has now introduced a digital facility, allowing it to be submitted online.

Verification via Face Authentication
Notably, the government is placing a strong emphasis on ‘face authentication’ technology for this initiative. With this, pensioners will be able to generate their life certificates digitally by verifying their identity using their mobile phone cameras. This will be particularly beneficial for elderly individuals who have significant mobility issues and are unable to visit a bank.

Special facilities to be provided
Through this government initiative, pensioners will gain access to a range of services, including health check-ups, Aadhaar updates, doorstep services, and grievance redressal.

Benefiting pensioners in remote areas
It is worth noting that the government has placed a special focus on elderly individuals residing in remote or far-flung areas. Such individuals often face significant challenges in submitting their life certificates. This initiative, which will be conducted throughout the month of November, is set to provide relief to these elderly citizens.
