It gets long-travel suspension, with front telescopic forks and back monoshock setup. The 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel make it a real trail machine. In addition, ground clearance of 245 mm and seat height of 880 mm give it a high and strong riding position.

Style and look

The same spy shots featured Yamaha’s signature Racing Blue paint scheme and attractive WR graphics in the WR155 R. Its exposed frame, high-mounted exhaust, narrow tail section, and LED tail lamp give it a lightweight dirt-bike-like look. This bike is as sporty as it looks, equally strong in performance.

Performance

However Yamaha WR155 R has the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) which is also found in Yamaha R15, MT-15 and incoming XSR155. According to the international model, this engine gives 16.7 PS power @ 10,000 rpm and 14.3 Nm torque @ 6,500 rpm.

Due to the 6-speed gearbox and fuel-injection system, this bike gives excellent performance and mileage on every way. Its light kerb weight (134 kg) makes it responsive, and VVA technology gives it smooth power delivery at every rpm whether you are in the city or on the highway.

Suspension

Also, the bike has hydraulic disc brakes on both the front and back sides, which provide better braking confidence. In addition, dual-purpose tyres help it maintain grip on all types of surface. Yamaha has tuned the suspension setup to maintain a balance of both comfort and control, making mixed-terrain riding easier.

Launch

Yamaha’s upcoming November 11, 2025 launch event could prove to be a big day for the company. According to reports, Yamaha WR155 R and XSR155 are set to launch both bikes on the same day. While the XSR155 will attract people who like retro-styled bikes, the WR155 R will be the perfect option for adventurers and off-road riding seekers.

It will have direct collision with Hero Xpulse 200 and Kawasaki KLX 230. If Yamaha launches it at competitive pricing (about ₹1.8 to ₹2 lakh ex-showroom), it can only change the direction of dual-sport segment in India.
