The automotive world continues to unveil new surprises every few months, and this time, the center of attention is Toyota’s upcoming Land Cruiser FJ-Concept, an all-new compact lifestyle SUV.

For some time now, Toyota has been working to expand and modernize its Land Cruiser lineup, and now it looks like the brand is about to introduce something that will appeal to both off-road enthusiasts and city drivers.

Toyota’s Land Cruiser family is already growing rapidly. Following the recently launched Land Cruiser FJ, rumors are now swirling about a new monocoque-based lifestyle SUV in the works. This SUV is believed to be the production incarnation of the Se-Concept, which was first unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.

𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘

According to media reports, this new SUV may hit the market in 2028 and it will be much more compact than the Land Cruiser 300. However being small does not mean that its DNA will be mild. It is being designed so that it is also city-friendly and off-road capable.

𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗖𝗥𝗨𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗥 𝗦𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧

Let me tell you that the Concept model shown was 5,150 mm long, 1,990 mm wide and 1,705 mm high. Its look was quite different and more sleek than the rest of the Land Cruiser models. If Toyota brings the same styling to production, the design language of the brand may be even more modern and premium. Two or three-row seating options can also be found in this SUV, which will give both family users and adventure lovers the flexibility they need.

Toyota is working on another small off-road SUV, the Land Cruiser FJ. This model could make its global debut by February 2026. Both SUVs will target lifestyle buyers in their respective segments.

Rival

This new compact SUV can give a tough competition to Mahindra Thar, Suzuki Jimny, and even the new Thar Roxx. With a length of about 4.4 meters and monocoque chassis it is also being made a practical option for midsize SUV buyers.
