Hyundai Tucson: Hyundai is gearing up to transform its popular SUV, Tucson, into a bold new 7-seater model. Code-named NX5, this next-generation SUV has been spotted during testing abroad, indicating a global launch is in the works. Indian roads may also welcome this upgraded Tucson soon, making it one of Hyundai’s biggest SUV moves.
Inspired by Adventure-Ready SUVs
The upcoming 7-seater Tucson looks tougher and more upright than the current model. It draws inspiration from Hyundai’s own N Vision 74 and NEXO FCEV. Its muscular stance and rugged design remind many of Land Rover SUVs, which suggests Hyundai wants to offer this model as a city-smart yet adventure-ready SUV for Indian buyers.
AI Assistance and Advanced Infotainment
Inside the 2026 Tucson, Hyundai is set to introduce its all-new operating system, Pleos OS. Built for a connected driving experience, it uses a wide 16:9 touchscreen and supports app-based customizations via the new ‘Pleos Playground’ store. One of the biggest highlights will be the AI-based assistant, Gleo. Much like ChatGPT, Gleo will let users interact naturally to control everything from infotainment to navigation, offering a tech-driven, smart in-car experience.

Autonomous Features and Drive Modes
The new Tucson will also come with Level 2.5 autonomous driving capabilities. This makes it much smarter on the road than previous models. Features like adaptive cruise control, auto lane assist, and smart driving modes could change how Indian users experience Hyundai SUVs in this segment.
No Diesel, Only Hybrid and PHEV
Hyundai plans to discontinue diesel options for the upcoming Tucson. Instead, the focus will shift to hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants. The PHEV version is expected to offer up to 100 km of electric-only range, enough to cover most daily city commutes without using fuel. This move reflects Hyundai’s commitment to greener mobility in the Indian market.
