Lord Shiva’s favorite month, Sawan, has started. This month is considered to be the most auspicious and fruitful time for worshiping Lord Shiva. In Hinduism, this month has special significance for Shiva devotees. During this time, Bholenath is extremely pleased with works like Shivling Abhishek, Rudrashtadhyayi recitation, fasting, and offering water. In the same sequence, if the picture of Lord Shiva is placed in the house according to faith and Vastu in this holy month, then it is considered to be especially wish-fulfilling and increasing positive energy in the house.
Importance of the Shiva picture according to mythological beliefs
According to the Puranas, Lord Shiva is known as a compassionate and easily pleased deity despite being the destroyer among the Tridevas. He is simple by nature, kind, and blesses the devotees immediately on their call. Putting his picture in the house is considered to be inviting his grace. Especially the picture placed in the month of Sawan increases spiritual energy in the environment and provides mental peace and positivity to the members of the house.

7 main rules for placing a picture of Lord Shiva according to Vastu Shastra
It is very important to follow these rules of Vastu Shastra while placing a picture of Lord Shiva in the house so that you can get the full benefit.
1. Choosing the right direction
Directions have special importance in Vastu Shastra. The north-east direction (Ishaan Kon) is considered the most auspicious for the gods and goddesses. This is the reason that maximum positive energy enters from this direction. In such a situation, according to Vastu, it is considered very auspicious to place a picture of Lord Shiva in the north or north-east direction of the house.
2. Choose a picture with a calm and gentle posture
Lord Bholenath is always absorbed in yoga and meditation, so for mental peace and balance, it is auspicious to place a picture of Lord Shiva in a meditative posture, sitting posture, Shiva-Parvati family, or Shiva seated on Mount Kailash in the house. Such pictures bring peace and harmony to the house.
3. Do not put a picture of the Raudra or Tandava form
According to Vastu Shastra, some pictures of Bholenath should not be put in the house. Pictures of Shiva’s Tandava, Raudra, or Aghor form should not be put in the house, as they represent intense energy and anger, which can bring negativity into the home environment.
4. Do not put it near the main door
Any idol or picture of Lord Shiva should never be placed at the main entrance of the house. Instead, it is considered more auspicious to put the idol of Lord Ganesha at this place. Putting a picture of Lord Shiva at the main door reduces the effect of energy.
5. It is best to put it in the place of worship

It is considered very auspicious to put a picture of Lord Shiva in the temple built at home for Shiva worship and religious rituals. This place is the most sacred, and the presence of the Shiva picture here transmits divine energy.
6. The size of the picture should be big and clear
Whenever you put a photo of Lord Shiva in the house, its size should be big and clear. A small or blurred picture should never be placed in the house. A clear and large picture has a more positive effect.
7. Do not place it in front of the bedroom, kitchen, or bathroom
In Vastu, it is forbidden to place the picture of Lord Bholenath in some parts of the house. The picture of Lord Shiva should never be placed in the kitchen, bedroom, or bathroom. Placing a picture at these places spreads negativity in the house and can give inauspicious results.
