Apple First Foldable iPhone Ultra Launching September 9, Here’s What to Expect

iPhone 18 Series Launch Date: Apple has announced the date for its next major launch event. The company will host a special event on September 9 at the Steve Jobs Theatre within Apple Park. The event will begin at 10:30 PM IST on September 9. This launch event promises to be particularly special, as Apple may unveil its first foldable iPhone.

Rumours suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature a design similar to the ‘Scientist’ model. Both phones are expected to be powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, manufactured using a 2nm process.

Apple’s First Foldable iPhone

Apple could make a major announcement about its first foldable iPhone at this event. Media reports indicate it may feature a 5.5-inch external display and a 7.6-inch internal display. Apple is said to have worked extensively to minimise the crease—the line that forms at the folding point—which has been a major issue for many foldable phones. Touch ID might be integrated into the power button instead of using Face ID. Additionally, the rear camera system is expected to utilise two sensors instead of three.

Apple Launch Event on September 9

The event is scheduled for September 9 at 10:00 AM PT at the Steve Jobs Theatre, Apple Park. In India, it will start at 10:30 PM. Reports suggest the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the company’s first foldable iPhone.

iPhone 18 Series

Not all models in the iPhone 18 series are expected to launch. Reports indicate that the company might postpone the iPhone 18 and the second-generation iPhone Air until 2027. The foldable ‘iPhone Ultra’ could be launched alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at the September 9 event. However, there is no official information yet on exactly which iPhone models will launch as part of the iPhone 18 series.

If this happens, it would mark a significant shift in Apple’s standard iPhone launch strategy. Apple’s biggest surprise could be its first foldable phone. Reports suggest it might feature a “book-style” folding design, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. It would likely have an external display when closed and a large inner screen when unfolded.

According to leaks, the iPhone Ultra could feature an outer display ranging from 5.3 to 5.5 inches, alongside a large inner OLED screen between 7.6 and 7.8 inches. Both screens are expected to support 120Hz ProMotion technology. This foldable iPhone might be powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chipset. The company is reportedly working on making this phone significantly thinner than standard iPhone models.
