Yamaha, which rules the hearts of bike enthusiasts worldwide, has made a big splash celebrating its glorious heritage. The company has officially launched the ’70th Anniversary Edition’ of its most popular sports bikes, the Yamaha R15 and Yamaha R3.

Currently launched in the Brazilian market, these special-edition models look stunning in their classic white-and-red color scheme, a direct reminder of Yamaha’s glorious racing history. If you’re a fan of Yamaha’s speed and retro-sporty look, these new bikes will surely make your heart race.

Yamaha 70th Anniversary Edition

This new Anniversary Edition from Yamaha is not just a color scheme, but an emotion. Before blue became its global signature color in the 1990s, Yamaha’s factory racing Grand Prix bikes used to set the track on fire in white and red. This special edition features ‘Speed Block’ graphics, reflecting the historical relevance of Yamaha race bikes from the 1970s.

Design-wise, the fairing, fuel tank, and side panels are painted in deep red, while the rest of the body is finished in a glossy white. This color combination not only gives the bike a premium, sporty feel but also makes it distinct from a typical road bike.

Engine and Performance

While Yamaha has made significant changes to the exteriors of these bikes, their mechanical strength and reliable engines have remained unchanged. Both bikes are known for their class-leading performance and handling.

The Yamaha R15 Anniversary Edition features a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 18.8 bhp and 14.7 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, its larger sibling, the Yamaha R3, features a 321cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 41 bhp and 29.42 Nm of torque. These figures clearly demonstrate that these bikes are both impressive in terms of looks and speed.

Pricing and Global Market

The prices of these Anniversary Edition bikes launched in the Brazilian market seem quite high in Indian currency. The R15 costs around ₹4.69 lakh, and the R3 costs around ₹7.36 lakh. However, it’s important to note that prices in foreign markets are significantly higher than in India due to taxes and other local expenses. The Yamaha R3 was updated internationally last year, featuring a new front end and several modern features, making it an even stronger contender in the 400cc segment.

Will it make its way to India

Currently, this special edition is limited to Brazil, but given the tremendous success of the Yamaha R15 in India, it’s expected that the company may introduce it to Indian customers as well. Sports bike lovers in India always eagerly await Yamaha’s “limited edition” models. If this white-red version of the Yamaha R15 hits Indian roads, it could shatter all previous sales records, as the “racing white” theme has always been a craze among the youth here.
