The Mahindra XUV 7XO is already renowned for its unmatched performance and luxurious cabin, but its massive engine has always made fuel efficiency a topic of debate. Now, the company is working on a new hybrid powertrain to address this shortcoming.

According to sources, Mahindra is going to integrate a powerful battery pack with the 1.5-liter petrol engine. This technology will not only reduce pollution but also provide a smooth and economical driving experience in city traffic. The hybrid system’s biggest advantage is that it uses the electric motor at low speeds, resulting in minimal petrol consumption.

Engine and Performance

While Mahindra is focusing on mileage, this doesn’t mean the vehicle’s power will be reduced. The new 1.5-liter hybrid engine is expected to produce approximately 180 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. It will be ideal for those who want both the efficiency of a hybrid and the speed of a turbocharged engine. This new engine option will be sold alongside the existing 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol and 2.2-liter diesel engines, giving customers complete choice.

In terms of mileage figures, the company claims around 30 km/h (1,000 mph) as a hybrid, but on real-world roads, it can easily deliver a mileage of 22 to 25 km/h (1,000 mph). This is nothing short of remarkable for a large SUV.

Interior and Powerful Features

The Mahindra XUV 7XO Hybrid’s cabin will be like a five-star lounge. The company may offer it with exclusive colors and new badging to distinguish it from the standard model. This SUV will offer all the cutting-edge features that make it a leader in its segment. The large triple-screen setup on the dashboard stunningly displays infotainment and driver information. Ventilated and powered front seats are provided to ease fatigue on long journeys.

A massive panoramic sunroof is also present to give the cabin an open and airy feel. In terms of safety, it features Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), Autopark, and a 540-degree camera, ensuring all-around safety. Additionally, Mahindra may offer e-AWD (Electric All-Wheel Drive) technology alongside the hybrid powertrain, making it even more functional during off-roading.

Launch and Expected Price

Mahindra plans to launch this dream SUV by 2027. Due to the use of hybrid technology, its price may be slightly higher than the standard model. Its on-road price is expected to be between ₹27 lakh and ₹32 lakh in major cities like Mumbai. However, for customers who spend heavily on fuel each month, this vehicle will prove to be a significant savings in the long run.
