UP Anganwadi Recruitment 2026: If you are looking for a government job, your luck is about to shine. A massive recruitment drive has been launched for women, offering an opportunity to secure employment. Vacancies have now been announced for Anganwadi positions in Uttar Pradesh.

The state’s Department of Child Development Services and Nutrition has initiated the recruitment process for the posts of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers. You can apply by meeting the necessary criteria without facing any hassle; however, it is important to be aware of the requirements before applying.

Number of Vacancies

Recruitment will be conducted for 7,068 Anganwadi Worker posts and 21,540 Anganwadi Helper posts (on a contractual basis) in Uttar Pradesh. The Department of Child Development Services and Nutrition has directed District Programme Officers across all districts to expedite the recruitment process. Department Director Hasita Mathur has asked for updated details regarding vacant posts from the districts. Additionally, a district-wise breakdown has been sought for vacancies created by Anganwadi Workers and Helpers who retired upon reaching the age of 62 in April 2026.

Preparations are underway to start recruitment for these posts soon as well. It is noteworthy that the selection process for Anganwadi recruitment could not commence in six districts—Ghazipur, Hathras, Kaushambi, Mainpuri, Pilibhit, and Varanasi—since 2024. The issue of recruitment remaining pending in these districts for the past two years has come to light, prompting the department to issue directives to accelerate the process.

To ensure transparency in the recruitment process, the list of vacancies will be made public in all districts. This list will be displayed at prominent government locations, including Collectorates, Vikas Bhavans, Tehsil offices, and Block Development offices. Furthermore, advertisements will be published in local newspapers, and complete information will be made available on the departmental portal.

Eligibility Criteria

Only female candidates are eligible to apply for this recruitment process. The minimum educational qualification required for the application is passing the 12th standard (Intermediate) examination. Additionally, candidates must be residents of the respective Gram Panchayat, ward, or area. The number of vacancies varies across different districts.

Required Documents

The application process is entirely online. Candidates must apply in accordance with the recruitment notification issued for their specific district. During the application process, candidates are required to upload educational certificates, proof of residence, a passport-sized photograph, and other necessary documents.

Selection Process

No written examination will be conducted for the Anganwadi worker recruitment. The selection process will be based primarily on academic marks and prescribed eligibility criteria. Selected candidates will be appointed following the preparation of the merit list.
