Pink Saheli Card: There is a big news for Pink Saheli Card holders. If you’re residing in Delhi and haven’t yet acquired a Pink Saheli Smart Card, this information is important for you. The Delhi government has introduced a new protocol for the operation of Pink Saheli Smart Card centers. As part of this protocol, all card distribution and service centers will be closed every Monday. Therefore, women will need to visit the centers on days other than Monday to get a card or for any related services.
Why is the Pink Saheli Smart Card essential?
The Delhi government has rolled out the Pink Saheli Smart Card to digitize and enhance the transparency of free bus travel for women. This card allows for free rides on DTC and cluster buses. In the near future, the previous pink ticket system will be entirely eliminated, making the smart card necessary for free travel. The government has already stated that starting in July 2026, the Pink Saheli Smart Card will serve as the primary identification for free bus travel. Hence, women who have not yet secured a card should apply soon to prevent any issues down the line.
Where can you get the card made?
This card is being issued at various DTC depots, District Magistrate offices, SDM offices, and other designated centers throughout Delhi. To obtain the card, you will need a Delhi address, an Aadhaar card, and a mobile number. The card will be issued after verification. It is noteworthy that the Delhi government launched the ‘Pink Saheli Card’ initiative on March 2. It replaced the earlier ‘Pink Paper Ticket System’ under the center’s ‘One Nation, One Card’ campaign with the ‘Pink NCMC Card’. After this change, only women residents of Delhi will be able to enjoy free bus travel.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had mentioned that this card will allow women to travel for free on DTC buses. At the same time, they will also be able to travel on the metro, Namo Bharat train, and other public transport services using the same smart card. However, these cards will need to be recharged for use.
Till now lakhs of women have benefited
According to government data, millions of women in the capital have been issued Pink Saheli smart cards. The scheme, launched to promote safe, convenient, and affordable travel for women, is rapidly gaining popularity.
What facilities are available?
The Pink Saheli smart card provides women with free travel on DTC and cluster buses. Furthermore, it is based on the National Common Mobility Card and can be recharged and used on the Delhi Metro and other public transport services. However, metro travel will not be free.
