Mahindra XUV 7XO Hybrid: Have you been waiting for a powerful SUV that’s economical in terms of mileage but unmatched in speed and luxury? The Mahindra XUV 7XO Strong Hybrid is poised to make a big splash in the Indian automobile market.
This new offering from Mahindra will not only rival the hybrid technology of Toyota and Maruti but also change the face of hybrid SUVs on Indian roads by 2027. With powerful performance, high-tech features, and excellent fuel efficiency, this SUV is set to be a great package for middle-class families and tech enthusiasts.
Mahindra XUV 7XO Strong Hybrid
Mahindra & Mahindra is now embarking on a major shift in its strategy. The company has decided to equip its highly popular XUV 7XO with ‘strong hybrid’ technology. According to Automobile News, this project is being developed under the codename W63 and is likely to be launched by 2027.
This move comes at a time when Indian consumers are increasingly turning to hybrid cars over fully electric vehicles. Mahindra’s primary goal is to challenge the hybrid dominance of companies like Maruti and Toyota with its indigenous and more powerful technology.
What will Mahindra’s advanced hybrid technology look like
Mahindra may use a series-parallel hybrid system in this SUV, combining a powerful petrol engine with an electric motor and a small battery pack. At low city speeds, the SUV will operate entirely on electric power, resulting in zero petrol consumption.
During high-speed highway driving, the engine will directly power the wheels while simultaneously charging the battery. It will also feature regenerative braking, which will automatically charge the battery using the energy generated during braking, eliminating the need for external power plugs.
Estimated Engine Power and Excellent Mileage
In terms of power and mileage, it is expected to feature a 2.0-liter M-Stallion turbo petrol engine, paired with an electric motor, producing approximately 185 to 200 bhp. The most surprising aspect may be its fuel economy, as despite being a heavy SUV, it is expected to deliver a mileage of 22 to 25 km/liter.
It will be equipped with an e-CVT, or advanced automatic transmission, which will make the driving experience buttery smooth. With this technology, Mahindra is aiming to appeal to those who are worried about rising petrol prices but still desire a large vehicle.
Luxurious Cabin and High-Tech Features
The XUV 7XO Hybrid’s interior will resemble the cabin of a luxury private jet. It will feature a coast-to-coast triple-screen layout featuring three 12.3-inch HD displays. This feature is a first in its segment. Additionally, it features an Adrenox system that comes with advanced AI and ChatGPT integration, allowing you to control navigation or music by talking to your car.
For safety, it features advanced features like Level-2 ADAS and a 540-degree camera that clearly displays the surface beneath the vehicle, not only on the road but also while off-roading.
