Given the growing demand for electric vehicles in the Indian market, Kia India is now preparing to make its biggest move. According to our sources, Kia is set to launch its most affordable electric SUV, the Kia Syros EV, in August this year.

This car, which will directly compete with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, will not only be budget-friendly but will also feature Kia’s signature styling and advanced features. It will be the company’s smallest electric car, specifically designed for those seeking a premium electric experience at a low cost.

Design and Look

The Kia Syros EV spotted testing will sport a boxy and tall body, similar to its petrol-diesel counterparts. However, the company will make some significant changes to give it an electric identity. Spy images reveal a charging port on the front fender. Additionally, it may feature a newly designed bumper and distinctive alloy wheels, which will differentiate it from its traditional counterpart. Overall, this car is set to make a distinct and bold statement on the roads.

Premium Cabin and Modern Features

The dashboard inside the car is expected to remain largely similar to its petrol model, but being an electric version, it will receive some futuristic updates. It could feature modern technologies like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), allowing you to charge other electrical appliances or another electric car from your car’s battery.

The cabin is also likely to feature new upholstery and an EV-specific display system. However, it will be interesting to see if it will feature ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), as Kia recently removed this feature from the 2026 update of its petrol model.

Powerful Battery and Performance

The Kia Sirius EV is built on the company’s trusted K1 platform. Although full technical details are not yet known, it is believed to feature a front-wheel drive configuration. Internationally, the Inster EV, based on the same platform, offers 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs. The upcoming Siros EV in India is expected to feature a battery of around the same capacity, providing excellent range for both city and highway use.

Launch and Pricing

Initially scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2026, it is now expected to arrive in August 2026. Its expected ex-showroom price could be between ₹15 lakh and ₹20 lakh.

With this price, it will directly challenge the dominance of the Tata Nexon EV. This new offering from Kia will be an excellent choice for customers looking for an electric SUV with a trusted brand, excellent service network, and advanced technology. If you are also planning to adopt an EV, then waiting till August can definitely prove beneficial!
