Holi Special Buses 2026: State Roadways to Run Hundreds of Buses, Check Routes

Holi Special Buses: Good news for common people. If you reside in Delhi or the NCR for work and are considering traveling home for Holi, there’s some great news for you. Given the lengthy waiting lists for trains, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has come to the rescue of travelers.

A special fleet of Holi buses has been launched on routes from Delhi to Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Lucknow. Indeed, for those from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar living in Delhi-NCR, getting home during the Holi festival can be quite a challenge. In this context, the UPSRTC’s initiative feels like a soothing balm for the situation.

Special arrangements for Delhi to Prayagraj

The Anand Vihar and Kaushambi depots in Delhi are experiencing the highest demand for buses to Prayagraj. In response, UP Roadways has made several arrangements. For instance, they will operate 20% more buses on the Prayagraj route than usual. Additionally, buses will depart from the main bus stations every 30 minutes to 1 hour. For those traveling long distances, the number of Janrath (AC) and Shatabdi buses has also been increased, ensuring they reach Prayagraj with fewer stops.

Major Routes and Connecting Cities

The primary focus of the Holi Special buses will be on these routes:

Delhi – Prayagraj (Via Kanpur)
Delhi – Varanasi (via Lucknow-Raebareli)
Delhi – Azamgarh
Delhi – Gorakhpur

Incentive Scheme for Employees

To guarantee that there are enough buses during the festive season, UP Roadways has introduced a special incentive scheme for its drivers and conductors. Employees who work continuously for 10 to 15 days will receive an additional honorarium, ensuring that passengers do not encounter a shortage of buses.

How to book tickets?

Passengers can buy tickets at the bus stand, but for long-distance and AC buses, online booking is highly recommended.

You can reserve your seat in advance by visiting the official website, online.upsrtc.com.
You can also book tickets through the mobile app.
To do this, you’ll need to download the UPSRTC mobile app.
Crowds peak two to three days before Holi, so planning your trip at least four to five days before Holi will be a good option.

ARM Kashi Prasad said that on the occasion of Holi, a large number of people living in metropolitan cities for employment and business return home. In view of the increasing number of passengers, additional buses have been arranged so that no passenger faces any inconvenience. In addition to regular services, special buses will be operated to provide relief to passengers.
