India AI Impact Summit Day 4: Big Announcement on Frontier AI in Delhi, India Brings World’s Top Organizations Together

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav made a big announcement from the stage of the ‘India AI Impact Summit’ on Thursday. He released the ‘New Delhi Frontier AI Commitments’. This is a joint voluntary agreement for the world’s leading and Indian AI companies.

Terming the summit as a ‘significant step’, Vaishnav said, “Today, the world’s leading frontier AI companies have made some voluntary commitments along with our country’s companies. This is a joint commitment to use AI for all.”

What are the commitments?

He highlighted two key commitments under the initiative. “The first is to advance the use of AI in the real world through anonymized and aggregated data,” the minister said. He added that this will “facilitate data-driven decision-making on jobs, skills and policy.”

According to Vaishnav, the initiative will help governments and institutions better understand employment trends and skill requirements while maintaining the privacy of personal data.

“The second is to strengthen the assessment of AI for multilingual and cross-sector use,” he said. He said that it is necessary to ensure that AI systems can work effectively across languages and cultures. “This is particularly important for the Global South, so that AI works well across languages and cultures,” he added.

Vaishnav said that these commitments are a collaborative step towards responsible AI development. “These combined efforts will play a key role in creating an AI that is not only powerful, but also inclusive, development-oriented and globally relevant,” he said.

World leaders gather at AI Summit

Following the announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in a group photo with top technology leaders from around the world at the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ in Delhi. Among them were Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Meta Chief AI Officer Alexander Wang and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.
