Millions of farmers across the country are currently awaiting the 22nd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Under this scheme, eligible farmer families receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually, which is transferred directly to their bank accounts in three equal installments. This amount is intended to help farmers with seeds, fertilizers, and other essential agricultural expenses. This payment is sent directly through the DBT system to maintain transparency and eliminate the role of middlemen.

When may the 22nd installment be released?
The official date for the 22nd installment has not yet been announced, but based on the pattern of previous installments, it is expected to be released between February and March 2026. According to reports, the 21st installment was released on November 19, 2025, and installments are typically released every four months. Based on this cycle, the next installment is estimated to arrive around February 2026.
Some reports also state that installments for the December-March payment cycle are often credited to farmers’ accounts by the end of February. However, the final date will only be clear after an official government announcement.
Benefits to Farmers
This scheme was launched to increase farmers’ financial stability and protect them from moneylenders or expensive loans. Each eligible farmer receives an annual grant of ₹6,000, disbursed in three installments. This amount may not be large, but it proves to be very helpful for small and marginal farmers to meet small farming expenses.
Which farmers can avail the scheme benefits?
Only those farmers who own cultivable land and whose data is correctly updated in government records are eligible for the scheme. Additionally, Aadhaar-linked bank accounts are required. Certain categories, such as institutional landowners, high-income government employees, or large taxpayers, are not considered eligible for the scheme.
Why is KYC Necessary?
The government has now made e-KYC mandatory for all beneficiaries. This aims to remove fake beneficiaries and ensure the distribution of funds to genuine farmers. Farmers who do not complete e-KYC may face installment delays. In many cases, payment delays have been observed due to errors in bank accounts, Aadhaar linking, or KYC.
Recently, experts have also highlighted the need to link subsidy and farmer data with the Aadhaar-based system to prevent erroneous payments.
How can farmers complete KYC?
Farmers can complete e-KYC by visiting the official portal using their Aadhaar number and OTP. Farmers who experience problems with OTP can go to a Common Service Center and complete KYC through biometrics. A mobile number linked to Aadhaar is required for this.
