Indian Railways: Exciting news for train passengers! Booking unreserved (general) tickets has just gotten a bit more affordable. Indian Railways has rolled out a direct 3% discount on unreserved tickets purchased via the RailOne app. This discount started on January 14, 2026, and will be available until July 14, 2026. However, there’s a catch: tickets must be booked digitally, meaning you can use UPI, debit card, credit card, or net banking.
This discount is exclusively available
The Railways has confirmed that the 3% cashback on R-Wallet will still be in effect, providing passengers with two perks: cashback and direct discounts. However, this feature is limited to the RailOne app and won’t be accessible on any other online platforms.
This initiative aims to encourage digital payments and boost the usage of the RailOne app. RailOne serves as a comprehensive platform for booking both reserved and unreserved tickets. Passengers can also check live train status, PNR details, coach positions, order food on the go, and file complaints.
Good news for Daily Commuters!
Railway officials are optimistic that daily commuters and short-distance travelers will greatly benefit from this discount. The direct fare reductions will enhance the convenience and appeal of digital ticketing. This plan will be under review for now, with the ministry planning to make further decisions after gathering feedback in May 2026.
The railway subsidiary, IRCTC, has disabled over 30 million suspicious user IDs. This action was taken to combat fraudulent bookings and bot activities, ensuring that genuine passengers can secure tickets with ease. The government made this announcement in Parliament.
Indian Railways is going to shut down the general ticket booking app UTS Ticket Booking App. This app will not work from March 1. Indian Railways says that passengers will have to use the new RailOne instead of this app. Through the UTS app, passengers were able to buy general tickets as well as platform tickets online. Now passengers will get all these services on Indian Railways’ super app RailOne, which was launched last year.
The RailOne app is a one-stop digital platform for rail passengers. Passengers can book general tickets, reserved tickets, and platform tickets. They can also access a variety of integrated services, including IRCTC Rail Connect, NTES, Rail Madad, and Food on Track.
