Pension Update- Divorced Daughters to Get Pension, Check Eligibility & Application Process

Pension Update: Big news for divorced womens. The Madhya Pradesh government has introduced a significant update to the family pension regulations, allowing divorced daughters to qualify for it. During a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, it was decided that divorced daughters, in addition to unmarried and widowed daughters, will now be part of their parents’ family pension eligibility.

The government revised Rule 44 of the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Pension Rules 2026 to expand the list of eligible beneficiaries. Officials noted that divorced daughters were previously excluded from receiving family pensions due to specific technical restrictions in the rules. However, with this new amendment, they will now have access to financial assistance. Now, let’s discuss how divorced daughters in Madhya Pradesh can obtain their pension and the application process for it.

What rules were approved?

The cabinet also gave the green light to the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Rules 2026 and the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Rules. The Finance Department has been tasked with publishing these new regulations. The government emphasizes that these updated provisions will streamline and expedite pension-related processes. Additionally, the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Rules 2026 and the regulations concerning gratuity payments under the NPS have also received approval. These new rules are set to take effect on April 1, 2026.

What are the new provisions included?

The new rules include provisions such as family pension in the event of a member’s death, voluntary retirement, e-service book, and combining previous service with the central and state governments. Employee and employer contributions during the suspension period, calculation of contribution rates, fixing responsibility in case of delay, and a clear exit process in the event of retirement or resignation have been finalized. The eligibility and payment of gratuity for government employees covered under the NPS have also been clarified. The rules also include provisions for recovery from gratuity in the event of a departmental inquiry, withholding of employer contributions, and initiating an inquiry after retirement.

How do you apply for the scheme?

Family pension benefits are offered by the appropriate department following a set procedure. Unmarried, widowed, or divorced daughters who qualify need to submit their applications to the relevant department or treasury office along with the necessary documents. Once the rules are published, detailed procedures and guidelines will be made available. The government states that this decision will help thousands of women in the state who rely on their parents after a divorce and do not have a steady income.
