Aadhaar Card Update- Need to update blur photo in Aadhaar Card? Know the step by step process

Aadhaar Card Photo Update: If your Aadhaar card photo is blurry, you think it needs a refresh, or you want to update it with a new one, you can definitely do that. Changing your old photo on the Aadhaar card is pretty straightforward. However, for security reasons, you can’t do it entirely online (from home) since it requires your biometrics, like your fingerprint and iris scan.

What’s the step-by-step process to change the photo on your Aadhaar card?

Book an appointment to save some time. Head over to the official UIDAI website, uidai.gov.in, and in the “My Aadhaar” section, click on “Book an Appointment.” Choose your city and schedule a time for your Aadhaar update. This way, you can avoid long waits at the center.

Visit Aadhaar Seva Kendra

Make your way to the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center at your scheduled time. Don’t forget to bring your original Aadhaar card and a proof of identity, like a PAN card or voter ID.

Fill out the update form

Go to the Aadhaar Update Form and fill in the necessary details. After that, they’ll capture your photo and take your biometrics. The operator will snap a live photo of you, so no need to bring one from home. They’ll also take your fingerprint and eye scan for verification.

Payment of Fee

You’ll have to pay a fee of Rs 100 (including GST) to update your photo. Once you’re done, you’ll get a receipt with your URN (Update Request Number). You can use this to check your status online.

Typically, it takes about 15 to 90 days for the photo to be updated. You don’t need any special documents to just change the photo; your old Aadhaar number is enough. After it’s updated, you can download your ‘e-Aadhaar’ from the UIDAI website or request a new ‘Aadhaar PVC Card’. There are a lot of claims online saying you can change your photo yourself using a mobile app or website, but UIDAI doesn’t allow that. You have to visit an Aadhaar center at least once to change your photo.

Meanwhile updating your home address on your Aadhaar card is now much easier with the Unique Identification Authority of India’s (UIDAI) new Aadhaar app. Previously, people had to visit Aadhaar enrollment centers, stand in long queues, and submit physical documents to update their Aadhaar. Now, this entire process can be completed online using a smartphone.

Digital Update

The new Aadhaar app allows users to change their address from the comfort of their homes, without having to visit a center. This is especially helpful for working professionals, senior citizens, and those living in remote areas. All you need is a mobile phone linked to your Aadhaar number and a stable internet connection.
