This means there are no technical changes to the process, but it has been streamlined and simplified. Users can now directly select the option to update their mobile number from the Services tab.

Submit Update Requests from Home

With the new Aadhaar app, mobile number update requests can now be made from the comfort of your home. Previously, many people had to visit an Aadhaar service center, but this need has now been significantly reduced. After submitting a request through the app, the process is recorded in the UIDAI system. However, the service costs ₹75, and the update can take approximately 10 to 15 days to complete.

New Features Added to the Aadhaar App

In addition to mobile number updates, several other features have been added to the app. Users can now verify the authenticity of another person’s Aadhaar. Additionally, the ability to lock and unlock biometric data is also available, further strengthening the security level. Availing many essential Aadhaar-related services through the app has become easier than before.

Complete Process to Update Mobile Number

To update your mobile number, first open the Aadhaar app and go to the Services tab below. Click on the Mobile Number Update option. Then tap Continue to Update Mobile Number. Enter the new mobile number you want to link to Aadhaar. An OTP will be sent to the number you entered. Enter it in the app to complete the verification. Then, complete the authentication steps provided. Once all steps are complete, your request will be sent to UIDAI. After submitting your request, you can track its status through the app.

Balancing Security and Convenience

This new UIDAI update is designed to provide a better user experience. While the interface has been modernized in the new version of the app, security features have also been strengthened. Simplifying crucial services like mobile number updates marks another step towards digital services.
