Ration Card eKYC Online: If you are a ration cardholder, this news could be very important for you. The government has recently tightened its grip on ration cardholders. It has been clearly stated that a large number of ration cardholders are being removed from the list in the state. Therefore, if the name of any member of your family has been removed from the ration card, your card will be cancelled. According to reports, more than 52 lakh people have already been removed from the ration card list.
This special announcement has been made for the people of the state. The Bihar government has issued an important notice regarding this. The government has clearly stated that all ration cardholders must complete their eKYC before February 28. If you do not complete the verification by the deadline, you may lose the benefit of free rations.
Why did the Bihar government issue the notice?
This notice has been issued by the Food and Consumer Protection Department of Bihar. According to the department, eKYC is mandatory for all members whose names are registered on the ration card. This process is completely free. Importantly, those who are currently living outside Bihar can also complete the eKYC through a mobile app. However, this facility has not been provided to beneficiaries living in some states.

Know the last date for completing eKYC
The state government has given time until February 28 for the ration card eKYC. By this date, people can complete the eKYC through both online and offline methods. If the verification is not completed within the stipulated time, the free rations provided under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana may be stopped.
How to get eKYC done at the ration shop
If you want to get offline eKYC done, you can visit your nearest Public Distribution System (PDS) shop, i.e., ration shop. You will need to carry your Aadhaar card and ration card with you. The shopkeeper will perform biometric verification through the e-POS machine. This verification will be done through fingerprints or iris scans. Please note that no fee will be charged for this process.

How to do eKYC from your mobile phone at home
If you wish, you can also complete your ration card eKYC from your smartphone at home. For this, you will need to download the ‘Mera KYC’ and ‘Aadhaar FaceRD’ apps on your mobile phone. After opening the app, turn on your location and select Bihar as your state. Then verify your location and enter your Aadhaar number and registered mobile number. After verification with an OTP, your information will appear on the screen. Here you will find the Face eKYC option. Clicking on this will activate your mobile camera. The process will be completed when you properly position your face within the circle displayed on the camera screen. You can later check the eKYC status in the app.
Why is Ration Card eKYC necessary?
During the verification of ration cards in all 38 districts of Bihar, several irregularities have come to light. Due to this, the process of removing the names of 52.22 lakh people has already been initiated. There are approximately 2.1 crore ration cards in the state, and the government wants to conduct eKYC for about 6.74 crore beneficiaries. The aim is to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach only eligible people and that fake or ineligible names are removed from the list.
