Subhadra Yojana: The central and state governments are running several schemes to benefit women. These schemes are helping women become financially stronger. Currently, the Odisha government is operating the Subhadra Yojana with the aim of empowering women. Under this scheme, eligible women receive financial assistance of Rs 10,000 every year. This amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary woman’s bank account in two separate instalments.
The government believes that this financial support will enable women to better manage their daily needs, as well as health, nutrition, and small household expenses. The main objective of the Subhadra Yojana is to provide financial assistance to women from economically weaker sections so that they can meet their needs without being dependent on others. This scheme helps women live with confidence and increase their participation in household decisions. The government considers this an important step towards women’s empowerment.
Who can avail of the scheme?
This scheme is available only to women who are permanent residents of the state of Odisha. Women residing in other states are not considered eligible for this scheme. The government has imposed this condition to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the needy women of the state directly.

Age-related eligibility criteria
The woman applying under the Subhadra Yojana must be at least 21 years old and a maximum of 60 years old. The government believes that women in this age group are working and need financial support the most. This is why this age limit has been set.
Why is the income limit necessary?
Keeping the economic situation in mind, the government has also set an income-related condition. The annual income of the family of the woman applying for the scheme should be less than Rs 2.50 lakh. If the family’s income is more than this, the woman will not be able to avail of the benefits of this scheme. The aim is to ensure that the assistance reaches truly needy women.

Income Tax Related Rule
A key condition of the Subhadra Yojana is that no member of the woman’s family should be an income tax payer. If any family member pays income tax, the woman will be considered ineligible for this scheme. This rule has been implemented to restrict the scheme to the economically weaker sections of society.
A Strong Step Towards Women’s Empowerment
Through the Subhadra Yojana, the Odisha government is trying to empower women by providing them with financial assistance and making them self-reliant. This scheme not only helps improve the economic condition of women but also allows them to play a strong and confident role in society.
