UIDAI Aadhaar Rules: UIDAI has updated the rules for changing details on your Aadhaar card. The list of documents needed to update your name, address, and date of birth has been revised. So, if you’re thinking about making any changes to your Aadhaar, check out the required documents.
Aadhaar Update Valid Document List
Getting the Aadhaar card, which is the most commonly used card in India, has become easier than ever. UIDAI has made major updates to the rules for obtaining and updating Aadhaar. Specifically, the list of documents that are valid for Aadhaar enrollment or updates has been refreshed. This change will directly help those who have faced challenges in the past due to insufficient documentation.
What changed with the new rules?
UIDAI aims to make sure that no citizen is left out of Aadhaar-related services. As a result, the list of proofs for identity, address, date of birth, and relationships has been simplified and made more user-friendly. With the new guidelines, you can now complete Aadhaar updates or new enrollments with fewer documents.
Which documents are required for name change in Aadhaar?
If you need to fix or change your name on your Aadhaar card, there are several documents that will now be accepted. A passport is seen as the most trustworthy option since it includes your photo, name, date of birth, and address. A PAN card can also serve as proof of identity. A voter ID card is valid for name updates too, as it clearly shows your photo and name. Additionally, a driver’s license, government ID card, and marriage certificate can also be used for name changes.
UIDAI has provided several options for updating your address. Passport, bank passbook, or bank statement will be valid, provided they are updated. Electricity, water, or gas bills will also be accepted, but ensure they are no older than three months. For those living in rented accommodations, a police verification or notarization along with the rent agreement is required. Additionally, a new voter ID card, ration card, and house tax or property tax receipts are also valid as proof of address.
Which documents are required to update the date of birth in Aadhaar?
A birth certificate is the most important document for correcting the date of birth. A passport and a 10th or 12th grade mark sheet are also valid. A physical PAN card and other government identification cards with a clear DOB can also be used. Under UIDAI’s new rules, updating your name, address, date of birth, or family details has become easier than ever. If you have a single document containing your photo, name, and address, UIDAI will accept it as both a PoI and a PoA. This eliminates the need to provide separate documents.
All documents submitted for Aadhaar update must be genuine. There should be no alteration of the photo, name, or other information. If the documents are found to be fake or edited, UIDAI may reject the application. Furthermore, there is a limit on the number of changes to Aadhaar. Names can be changed up to two times, while date of birth and gender can only be changed once.
