Ayushman Bharat Yojana: The Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY) scheme has become a safety net for millions of poor and middle-class families across the country. Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive free and cashless treatment up to ₹5 lakh annually. However, the biggest challenge arises when patients’ families are unaware of which hospitals in their area are empanelled.
Lack of accurate information often leads to people ending up at the wrong hospital and spending their hard-earned money on treatment. Therefore, before any emergency or treatment, it’s crucial to know which government and private hospitals in your district accept the Ayushman card.
What are Ayushman Empanelled Hospitals
Under this scheme, the government has linked thousands of government and renowned private hospitals across the country, known as “Empanelled Hospitals.” By showing your Ayushman card at these hospitals, you are exempt from any expenses, from admission to surgery, medications, and post-discharge.

These hospitals have a dedicated “Ayushman Help Desk” where Ayushman Mitras are deployed to assist you. These hospitals provide treatment under special packages for serious illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, bone disease, and kidney disease. It’s important to note that not every hospital is empanelled for every illness, so it’s important to check the hospital’s “specialty.”
Process to View the List Online
You can view a list of hospitals in your area in just two minutes through the official Government of India portal. First, visit the official website: hospitals.pmjay.gov.in. Here, you’ll see the “Hospital Search” option. Click on it and select your state and district. You can then choose the type of hospital, whether it’s a government hospital or a private hospital.
If you’re looking for treatment for a specific illness, go to the “Specialty” section and select that illness. Finally, by entering the captcha code and pressing the ‘Search’ button, you will be presented with the names, phone numbers, and complete addresses of all the hospitals providing free treatment under the Ayushman scheme.
Get information through other means
If you don’t want to use the website, you can download the ‘Ayushman App’ on your smartphone. This app also provides the distance and route to the nearest listed hospitals based on your GPS location. Additionally, the government has issued a toll-free helpline number, 14555, which you can call at any time to request information about hospitals in your area. If you don’t have internet access, you can also inquire about this list by visiting your nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or any government hospital.

Keep these things in mind before treatment
Even after reviewing the hospital list, some precautions are necessary. When you arrive at the hospital, first show your card and Aadhaar card at the Ayushman Bharat counter to confirm that your card is active and that the procedure you need is available in the hospital’s current package.
Hospitals may temporarily de-empanel due to technical reasons, so confirming before admission will help keep your bill zero. Remember, the Ayushman Bharat scheme is completely cashless, so if a hospital asks you for an additional fee, you can complain on the portal.
