Free LPG cylinders for Holi and Diwali, CM announces

Free LPG Gas: Big gift for common people. The Delhi government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has offered considerable relief to the city’s residents in anticipation of Holi by approving a plan to distribute two free LPG cylinders each year. This initiative will provide one free cylinder to underprivileged families in the capital during both Holi and Diwali. The proposal has received official approval from the Delhi Cabinet, thereby honoring a significant commitment made by the BJP during the Delhi Assembly elections.

On Tuesday (February 3), Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced in a press conference that families with valid ration cards will receive free LPG gas cylinders for Holi and Diwali. The objective of this scheme is to assist economically disadvantaged families in the national capital, particularly women from low-income households.

As part of this initiative, families holding ration cards and those classified as economically weaker sections will be granted free LPG cylinders during the festive occasions of Holi and Diwali. In a meeting led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Cabinet resolved to transfer Rs 853, which corresponds to the cost of one LPG cylinder. This amount will be credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. CM Gupta informed reporters at the press conference that ration card holders utilizing piped natural gas (PNG) connections will also be included in this benefit.

The Chief Minister stated that Rs 853, which is the price of a single LPG cylinder, will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of qualified beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer system. He further emphasized that ration card holders with PNG connections will not be left out and will also gain from this scheme.

This sum will be credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries prior to Holi. The Chief Minister mentioned that the government has set aside Rs 242 crore for this free gas cylinder initiative. CM Gupta commended the scheme and affirmed that his government is dedicated to delivering on its electoral promises.
