Budget 2026 Update: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented her 9th budget. This budget claims to be a step towards India becoming a developed nation by 2047. While some sections were disappointed, a large number of people also felt let down. Announcements were expected for the middle class, but none were made.
The biggest blow was to the aspirations of farmers. Farmers had hoped for an increase in the annual amount received under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, but this did not happen. Furthermore, the limit for Kisan Credit Cards was also not increased.

No Increase in Budget Allocation
As Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman began reading the budget document in the Lok Sabha on Sunday, all eyes were fixed on her speech. People watched intently, some on television, others listening on their mobile phones. There was a possibility of a major announcement for farmers.
Farmers waited for an announcement for themselves, but the entire budget speech concluded without any such announcement. This dashed the hopes of the farmers. Before the budget, there were expectations that the annual amount under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme would be increased to Rs. 9000, but this did not happen. It is now clear that there is no possibility of any increase in the instalment amount of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
Kisan Credit Card Limit Not Increased
Farmers had hoped that the budget for the financial years 2026 and 2027 would increase the limit of the Kisan Credit Card. Currently, the limit for the Kisan Credit Card is Rs. 5 lakh.
Farmers hoped that the government would increase this limit to Rs. 6 lakh, but this did not happen. Currently, the government provides interest subsidies on loans up to Rs. 5 lakh under the Kisan Credit Card scheme. In the previous budget, the limit was increased directly from Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh.
How much will be received in the 22nd iinstalment
Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, only Rs. 2,000 will be released in the 22nd, or next, instalment. If the government were to increase the annual allocation in the budget to ₹9,000, then each insinstalmentuld be ₹3,000.

The government has so far released 21 instinstalmentser this scheme. The last instalment was transferred on November 19, 2026. Since then, farmers have been eagerly awaiting the next installment.
