PM Kisan Yojana: Did the 2026 Budget Raise PM Kisan Payments? Key Facts You Must Know

PM Kisan Installment: The Union Budget 2026 has not made any major changes to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme for farmers. The government has maintained the annual amount of ₹6,000 as before. Under this scheme, all eligible landholding farmer families in the country are provided financial assistance of ₹2,000 each in three equal installments every year. This amount is sent directly to the farmers’ bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), eliminating the role of middlemen.

What is the detail?

In a meeting with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in December, prior to the budget, farmer organizations and representatives from the agricultural sector demanded an increase in the PM-KISAN amount. They argued that the annual assistance of Rs 6,000 was no longer sufficient due to rising inflation. Farmers also demanded tax relief, cheaper loans for farming, and easier long-term financing. However, no direct announcements have been made on these demands in Budget 2026, leaving many farmers somewhat disappointed.

21 installments released so far

So far, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released 21 installments of the PM Kisan Yojana. If you want to know whether you are a beneficiary of this scheme or whether your installment has arrived, you can easily check it online. To do this, first visit the official PM Kisan website. Click on the “Beneficiary Status” option. Then, enter your Aadhaar number or bank account number and click “Get Data.” Within a few seconds, your beneficiary status and payment information will appear on the screen.

It is necessary to get eKYC done

It is mandatory to complete eKYC to avail the benefits of PM Kisan Yojana. According to the government, without eKYC, the next installment of farmers can be stopped. Farmers can complete eKYC in three ways – first, OTP based eKYC, which is available on the PM-Kisan portal and mobile app. Second, biometric eKYC, which can be done at the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or State Seva Kendra (SSK). The third and easiest method is face authentication based eKYC, which can be done through the PM-Kisan mobile app. By completing eKYC on time, farmers can continue to avail the benefits of the scheme without any interruption.
