Know These Rules Before Updating Your Aadhaar Card, Otherwise You Will Face Problems

Aadhaar Update Rules:  In today’s time, the Aadhaar card is extremely important. The Aadhaar card has become the most important identity document for every citizen. An Aadhaar card is needed for almost everything, whether it’s for banking transactions, availing government schemes, or providing proof of identity and address. It contains essential information such as name, date of birth, address, gender, and mobile number.

UIDAI provides Aadhaar holders with the facility to update their information, but it is important to know that not all information can be changed repeatedly. Some information recorded in Aadhaar can only be updated a limited number of times.

What are UIDAI’s rules?

According to UIDAI rules, the facility to change the name on the Aadhaar card is provided only twice. The name can be updated after marriage to change the surname, to correct spelling errors, or for any other necessary reason, but changes beyond the prescribed limit are not allowed.

These updates can only be done once

If the date of birth is incorrectly recorded in Aadhaar, there is an opportunity to correct it, but this facility is provided only once in a lifetime. Once the date of birth is updated, it cannot be changed again. Therefore, it is important to exercise special caution during this update.

Know the rules for changing your address

However, the rules are simpler in the case of addresses. If you have changed your house or city, the address on the Aadhaar card can be changed any number of times. In addition, there is complete freedom to update the mobile number. OTPs related to banking and government services are sent to this number, so you can update your mobile number multiple times if needed.
