LPG Gas Price Today: Today, February 1st, while the entire nation was eagerly awaiting the Finance Minister’s budget, the government unleashed a major inflationary bomb. Oil marketing companies have announced a massive price hike of up to ₹50 on 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinders.
However, providing some relief to the common man’s kitchen, the price of 14.2-kilogram domestic cylinders has remained unchanged. However, with commercial cylinders becoming more expensive, dining out and restaurant bills could weigh heavily on your pocket. The new rates have come into effect this morning in metropolises like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.
Commercial Gas Cylinder Price
The morning of Budget 2026 brought no relief for those in commercial businesses. The government has updated the prices of 19-kilogram blue gas cylinders used in hotels, restaurants, and dhabas. Compared to last month, you’ll now have to pay approximately ₹50 more per cylinder. Oil companies say this decision was made due to fluctuations in global crude oil and gas prices.

With this increase, a 19 kg cylinder in the capital Delhi now costs ₹1740.50, down from ₹1691.50 yesterday. Similarly, in Chennai, prices have reached close to ₹1900. Trade experts believe this could increase the cost of food items and catering services, ultimately borne by consumers.
Latest Rates of 19 kg Commercial Cylinder in Metro Cities
The full details of the new prices, effective February 1st, are as follows:
Delhi: The price of a commercial cylinder has increased by ₹49, costing customers ₹1740.50. In January, the price was ₹1691.50.
Kolkata: In Kolkata, the price of a cylinder has increased by ₹49.50, reaching ₹1844.50. Last month, the price here was ₹1795.00.
Mumbai: Mumbai, the city of dreams, has also seen a price increase of ₹49.50. The cylinder will now be available here for ₹1692.00 instead of ₹1642.50.
Chennai: Chennai has seen the highest increase of ₹50. The price of a commercial cylinder here has now increased from ₹1849.50 to ₹1899.50.
Relief for Domestic Gas Cylinder Holders
While commercial customers have been hit hard, there is some comforting news for home cooks and general consumers. The government has kept the price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder unchanged. Domestic cylinder prices were last revised on April 8, 2025, and have remained stable since then.
In Delhi, a domestic cylinder is still available for ₹853. In other cities, prices remain stable at ₹879 in Kolkata, ₹852.50 in Mumbai, and ₹868.50 in Chennai. In cities like Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and Patna in Bihar, prices are slightly higher due to transportation costs, with customers in Patna paying ₹951 for a cylinder.

Why are only commercial cylinder prices increasing
The question often arises as to why this difference exists between domestic and commercial cylinder prices. The government uses subsidies and price controls on domestic gas to protect the general public from the direct impact of inflation. However, commercial gas prices are completely market-driven.
When input costs rise in the international market, oil companies are the first to revise commercial rates. However, the indirect impact of the rising cost of commercial cylinders also falls on the public because, due to this, the food and breakfast available outside becomes expensive.
