What is the Chief Minister’s Digital Education Scheme
This scheme of the Delhi government is set to prove to be a milestone in the field of education. The government’s vision is clear: financial constraints should not hinder the dreams of any meritorious student. Under this scheme, the top 1,200 students from Delhi will be selected each academic year.
Most importantly, the government will provide not ordinary laptops, but premium laptops with Intel Core i7 configurations, each unit of which will cost over ₹60,000 in the market. The Delhi government has allocated a hefty budget of ₹7.5 crore for this entire project. This will not only enable students to improve their online studies but also master areas like coding, graphic design, and advanced research.
Who will be eligible for this free laptop
The Chief Minister’s Digital Education Scheme will only benefit students who meet the strict criteria set by the government. The primary requirement is that the student must be a permanent resident of Delhi and must have a Delhi Aadhaar card. Furthermore, the student must have passed the 10th grade exam as a regular student from the CBSE board.
The primary basis for selection will be the merit list. Only students who rank among the top 1,200 in the CBSE 10th-grade Delhi state-level merit list will be eligible for this scheme. Furthermore, the student must have enrolled in a Delhi school for 11th grade. The government believes that such stringent criteria will encourage truly meritorious students.

The Delhi government has clarified that this scheme is entirely merit-based and ensures equal opportunities for female students. Free laptops for female students on the merit list will empower them digitally.

Selection and Distribution Process
The biggest advantage of this scheme is that eligible students do not need to visit any government office or apply online separately. The selection process is completely transparent and automatic:
- After the CBSE 10th results are declared, the Delhi Education Department will automatically prepare a list of the top 1,200 students.
- The list of selected students will be sent directly to their respective schools. The school administration will inform eligible students and their parents.
- The school will verify the student’s Delhi residency and admission to Class 11.
- All selected meritorious students will be invited to a special state-level event where laptops will be distributed to them by the Chief Minister.
Required Documents
Although you don’t have to apply separately, you must have the following documents with you at the time of verification: a permanent Delhi Aadhaar card, original Class 10 marksheet, Class 11 admission certificate or fee receipt, and a current ID card issued by the school.
