ICICI Bank is bringing several changes to its credit card rules for its customers. The new rules will come into effect from January 15, 2026. The changes will affect reward points, daily spending, foreign currency payments, entertainment offers and various transaction fees. The bank said that these changes will help cardholders manage their spending and benefits better.
Changes in reward points
Emerald Metal credit cardholders will earn 6 reward points for every Rs 200 spent on retail purchases. However, as per the new rules, these points will no longer be given for government services, fuel, property management, rent, tax payments and spending on third-party wallets. The aim is to ensure that cardholders do not get special benefits for spending outside the scope of the bank’s rewards program.
New conditions for Book-MyShow offer
ICICI Bank has also clarified that to avail the BookMyShow offer, cardholders will have to spend a minimum of Rs 25,000 in the previous quarter. This condition will be applicable to certain cards every quarter. The bank says that this move will encourage cardholders to monitor their spending regularly and make proper use of the offers.
Add-on cards and foreign transaction fees
A one-time fee of Rs 3,500 will be charged for new add-on cards for Emerald Metal Credit Cards from now on. The bank has also revised the foreign currency transaction fees. For example, 1.49 per cent will be applicable for Times Black Card, 2 per cent for Emerald Metal/Emerald/Emerald Private Card, 0.99 per cent for MakeMyTrip Travel Card, 1.99 per cent for Amazon Pay Card and 3.5 per cent for other cards like MakeMyTrip Signature and Platinum.
New fees on entertainment and wallet transactions
A 2 percent fee will now be charged on transactions made on gaming or entertainment platforms like Dream11, Rummy Culture, Junglee Games and MPL. Also, a 1 percent fee will be applicable for adding Rs 5,000 or more to wallets like Amazon Pay, Paytm, Mobikwik, Freecharge or Olamoney.
New fees for cash bill payments at branches
From now on, paying credit card bills in cash at branches will cost Rs 150 per transaction, which was earlier Rs 100. The bank said that this change in the rules is being made to cover the additional costs associated with cash bill payments.
